Speaking pitch explained

How deep is my voice? Start with F0, not a label

VoiceScope can measure the fundamental frequency of your speech and show where it rises and falls. That is useful evidence, but perceived depth also depends on resonance and timbre.

Fundamental frequency contributes to perceived depth, but it is not the whole voice.

Measure natural speech

Read the supplied passage at your everyday pace and volume. Do not press your larynx down or imitate a dramatic voice. A 15–30 second sample contains more representative phrases than a single sustained vowel.

Voice frequency result with median, range, mean, and voiced percentage
Use the median as a centre and the contour as evidence—not as a score of the person.

Look beyond the median

Use the median as a centre, the range as context, and the contour to see phrase endings, emphasis, and short detector mistakes. A narrow stable contour and a wide expressive contour can share the same median.

What the test cannot judge

The tool cannot determine whether a voice is attractive, masculine, feminine, healthy, trained, or suitable for a profession. It does not measure formants or a complete resonance profile. Persistent pain, hoarseness, or sudden changes belong with a qualified clinician, not an online pitch test.
