What the analyzer measures

VoiceScope estimates fundamental frequency (F0), the repeating rate of voiced sound. Each reliable frame is expressed in hertz and mapped to the nearest equal-tempered musical note. The app then reports median, mean, range, spread, voiced percentage, and the contour over time.

Pitch is only one acoustic property. The result does not measure resonance, timbre, attractiveness, identity, or vocal health.

How to use the result

  1. Record at least 15 seconds of natural speech or a sustained singing exercise.
  2. Check the contour for stable regions and sudden isolated jumps.
  3. Replay the recording from any position on the chart.
  4. Compare repeated recordings using the local history.
For speech, the median is usually more robust than the mean because brief high or low events can pull an average away from the centre.

Smart filtering

Pitch detectors sometimes return octave errors, breath noise, clicks, or short background sounds. Smart mode combines local pitch context with detector confidence. It removes only short suspicious runs and preserves sustained register changes and clear short phrases.

Points rejected by the final trimming stage remain visible as trimmed outliers. Earlier confidence, silence, and minimum-run filters are documented in the methodology but do not appear as chart points.
